Comments - Beautiful portrait of a Chinese woman from the novel "Rafu-san." She leans against the trunk of a blossoming plum tree, looking over her shoulder with a thoughtful expression. The long sleeves of her red top completely cover her hands, and a green cloth is draped over one arm, trailing down the front of her flowing skirt. A lovely facial expression, beautifully drawn. A fine kuchi-e subject.
Artist - Kajita Hanko (1870 - 1917) Image Size - 11 1/2" x 8 5/8" Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Two horizontal folds (now flattened) as with all kuchi-e prints (because of their use), so this is not a negative. Light soiling, slight offsetting, a few faint spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall. |
