Two Egrets in Flight

Subject: A pair of Egrets flying through the rain among Willow branches. The first state of this design with the early rectangular Watanabe seal. See Crows Cranes and Camellias, Page 154, where the two states have been inadvertently transposed.

Condition: Full size with large margins. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally fine state.

Colour: Fine colors.

Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage.
Japanese Woodblock Print Koson Early Watanabe


Early edition Koson Japanese Woodblock. Titled White Herons & Willow. 15" tall by 10" wide. Bears a early 1930s Watanabe Seal. Wonderful image of 2 heron flying amidst willows. Condition is good with no tears & no trimmed margins. There is a mat line, some toning, a pinhole above the top bird & some very mild foxing mostly between the birds all visible in our picture.
