A guaranteed genuine original Japanese woodblock print showing a court lady playing a drum on a boat on a moonlit night. Series - Snow, Moon and Flower for the Minamoto and Taira clans. The artist is Nobukazu. Printed 1891. Excellent color, unbacked, sheets separate and unattached, untrimmed, some creases and surface dirt.
Dimensions: 28.5" X 14" (Oban Triptych).

Subject: Bijin enjoying the cool of the evening on pleasure craft beside a Torii in the water.

Date: c. 1880's

Condition: Fine colors. Slightly trimmed. Album backing paper. Vertical centrefolds. Slight offsetting. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally very good state of preservation.

Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage and silver pigment. Strong woodgrain visible in the background

Format: Oban triptych: each sheet 15.5" x 9.5"

Subject: A moonlight scene in Oiso. Among Chikanobu's finest works, this ravishingly beautiful design of a Heian Court lady on a pleasure boat ranks as a masterpiece.

Date: c.1880's

Condition: Fine colors. Album crease marks at edges. Minor offsetting, marks and flaws. Japanese album backing paper. Generally very good state of preservation.

Impression: Very fine with gauffrage.
