Signed in pencil in the lower left. The woodblock is of a young girl with a mask. The print is not glued on board but a free sheet, in excellent condition with no damage. . The paper is cream color paper. Sheet size is 11" x 16-1/2" . The image is 10" x 15". There is no foxing, no tears, no stains. |
For your bidding consideration is a wonderful woodblock of a little girl with a mask by Kaoru Kawano. Kawano is a listed 20th century Japanese artist with good auction records. See photos for Kawanos seal, there is also a seal on the back (see photos), and wonderfull bleedthrough. Condition is very good, not laid down, it has been tipped in the past with no harm. Measuring 17 X 11.25 inches. |
This Lady purchased a number of these Japanese Woodblocks from an Art Gallery in Chicago in the 1960's. I will be listing two by Kawano this evening.
