This is a beautiful Japanese woodblock of a family scene. The father sits making shoes from reeds, while the mother sews a piece of fabric. Two children play outside the door. The woodblock is in excellent condition, with no foxing, stains, or damage. Unfortunatly we do not know who the artist was. The frame measures 20" x 14 1/2" the woodblock itself measures 14 3/4" x 10".

A Family by Hiyoshi Mamoru. Original woodblock print circa 1950s. Good condition. Some light foxing as shown in scan. Two small repairs in top margin. Oban size measures 15.2 x 10.7 inches. Good color and ink bleedthrough. Artist's red Mamoru seal and Shinagawa seal in lower right of image. Seals in left margin are first impression, Kyoto hanga publisher's seal, Matsuda carver's seal and Oono printer's seal.

This print shows a family's typical life. The father is making zouri (sandals), the mother is sewing, and the kids in the background are playing with mari (a ball made out of decorative cloth). There are many gradations throughout this print in the gray areas. Please note that there is a slight crease on the right bottom corner of the print. It is visible in the large popup. The print measures 16 by 10.5 inches.
