Title Mt. Fuji and Sakata River
Artist Kaiseki Jokata 1882-1966

Description Mt. Fuji is seen from the Sakata River. A stone pillar indicating the border line between Shizuoka prefecture and Kanagawa prefecture stands on the left. The tall towers relaying the high voltage electricity stand in the otherwise pristine, rugged scenery.
Kaiseki was a rare Shin Hanga artist. He did 12 print series of Mt. Fuji.
Signature "Kaiseki hitsu".
Seal Artist's seal.
Dated 1929.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Excellent - very good.
Colors Excellent - very good.
Condition Very good ... Nominally toned. Light creases and foxing on the margins.

Artist Bio: 

日本画家。明治15年(1882)岡山県生。名は耀慶。関西学院卒。巨勢小石に師事、女婿となる。渡仏し、サロン・ドートンヌに入選。のち木版画も手掛けた。昭和8年(1933)存、歿年未詳。
