Act 4, The 47 Ronin, circa 1840s - Fantastic print from a very rare 47 ronin series by Hiroshige published by Aritaya in the 1840s. The series is known for its unusual treatment of several of its subjects, showing innovative interpretations of the scenes more commonly found in Chushingura series. Featuring large figures set into attractive landscapes or interior settings, these woodblocks are a wonderful choice for a Hiroshige collector or anyone interested in 47 ronin prints. Condition - With excellent color and detail. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Slightly frayed at edges and some minor soiling. Ink mark in top margin. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
