The following information was taken from the original web listing of this artwork. Note that there may be some inaccuracies:
"Candle Light" - An original pencil signed color woodblock print by Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano (1916-1955) depicting a young girl holding a candle.
It measures 16 3/4" x 11" (sheet) / 15" x 9.25" (plate)
The work is executed on Japanese kozo paper with characteristic top and bottom deckled edges. It is signed in English within the image at the lower left and there is an adjacent "Kaoru" Japanese stamp. The title and inscribed number "15 Candle light" appears in pencil on the back lower edge. It is unmatted and unframed. No Kawano seal on back!
Good unretouched original estate condition, very good, bold colors against a moderately lightstruck outline from a previous mat just outside image (visible in detail photos). No creases in the image. No tears, just typical kozo/deckled edge fraying to outside edges. It has not been laid down. There is a very, very light crease which extend from the top edge to the image but which do not go into image (visible in detail photo). One or two isolated spots of foxing in the lower margin (see detail photo). Two small and light mounting hinge remnants on the back top edge. Ready to matted and enjoyed or submitted to a paper conservator for freshening.
