Biographical: 1890-1974

Short Bio: Hisara Tanaka was born in Gifu prefecture. He worked as an illustrator and was known as a manga artist.

Description: Beauty in kimono after a traditional Japanese bath. She is holding a towel with her left hand and bathing accessories in a small basket with her right hand.

Artist Bio: 
Manga artist and illustrator. In 1921 found employment at Shufu no Tomo Co., produced illustrations for novels. In 1930 began drawing manga series for 'Yomiuri sandei manga'. Produced illustrations for novels serialized in newspapers. Known for his illustrations of 'modan gaaru' (literally, 'modern girls') during the 1920s-30s.
田中比左良・1890~1974 可児郡御嵩町に生まれる。郷土の南画家、松浦天竜に学ぶ。郵便局勤務の後、主婦の友社に入社、挿絵を 担当する。フリーとなり装丁、挿絵作家として活躍。独自でユーモラスな美人画の世界を築く。漫画家。昭和49年に没。
