| Large edition size of 300 suggests this scene was published toward the end of Kawano's life. Given the rarity of this scene (the first example I have ever seen as of 2019), and given the very low edition number of 9/300, I assume this scene was never completed before Kawano fell ill. |

Kawano Kaoru was a Hokkaido born artist and part of the modernist Showa print movement.

Kaoru Kawano was a very popular artist for his distinctively styled depictions of figures, especially children. He uses the wood grain patterns to lender the textures and the mood to the works.
