Notes (first edition)?
Japanese pre-war impressionist watercolor painting by artist K. Seki depicts a rainy night at a riverside village in shades of grays and blues with yellow glowing lamplights in windows that reflect in the surface of the wet road surface and water. This double oban size (20” by 13 3/8”) painting on artist paper has the brush painted red seal and signature of the artist in the lower left corner of the image. Undated, this painting was probably produced in the 1920s or 1930s. The paper shows some minor edge wear and a thin spot on the back where a price tag or merchant's sticker was removed, two sets of staple marks and holes in the upper margin, some puckering in the upper edge, and some minor foxing on the verso. Except for a thin diagonal scratch across the lowest branches of the large tree, this print otherwise has no toning or damage, such as any tears, creases, folds or repairs.
