Fukutaro Terauchi was born December 9, 1891 and in 1910 he entered the private school of Kiyoteru Kuroda, where he became a member of the Hakuba association. He died in 1964 and was famous for his detailed watercolors of the different seasons in Japan. This watercolour is signed “Terauchi Jr.” in Latin script. The work has a dreamy quality and is particularly fine. There also seems to be some use of thick gouache as a highlight medium. Works by the artist have been sold on eBay, at public auctions, and commercial art galleries. [general web resources] |
