BEAUTIFUL, STRONG COLORS ANTIQUE JAPANESE WATERCOLOR PAINTING BY N. KEIMO or KEIHO
Up for your consideration is a painting by Japanese watercolor artist, N. Keimo or Keiho.
A lovely depiction of a red bridge, river/stream, trees and stone stairs.
This was identified by Dr. Ross F. Walker of Ohmi Gallery in Japan.
This was my grandmother's and I believe that she brought it back from Japan during WWI.
She worked for the Red Cross during the war and was aboard a ship that ran aground in Japan in 1918 (possibly the SS Heffron).
My understanding is that she was there in Japan for 2 months while the ship was being repaired.
For an interesting account of the mishap see: http://www.tofugu.com/2012/07/03/u-boj-u-boj-japan/
This painting still retains strong, beautiful colors. I don't believe it was ever framed.
It has one small tear at the bottom and the back of the paper is aged.
It measures approximately 12.5 x 8.5 inches. |

I have very little information regarding this watercolour artist. He (she?) was active circa 1920s, and may have been active as early as 1918.
