Artist: Hideaki Kato Title: Omuro in the Spring - L Date: 2001 Medium: Silkscreen Edition Size 200 Notes: "Omuro no Haru - L" (Omuro in the Spring - L). Pink cherry trees scatter among the luscious greens of Omuro. Ninnai-ji (Omuro) is a large temple which belongs to Shingon Sect. Its five-story pagoda is the National Treasure of Japan. The temple ground has hundreds of cherry trees. Many tourists come to enjoy their beauty and the temple's historical interests. The artist said, "This is the whole view of Ninnai temple compound. Because the trees have been grown up now, we cannot see this scenery any more". Born in 1954 in Kyoto. Kato Hideaki is a self-taught artist with some instruction from his father, he has mastered silkscreen printing. Uchida began to publish his work after 1982. Temple scenes are frequently seen along with other sights of Kyoto. He employs the integration of photographs into the silkscreen process. (as did Andy Warhol). His works are all limited editions.
