This is a very rare print, being one of Watanabe's earliest works (1958) and in his largest format at over one metre in width. It was awarded first place at the Modern Japanese Print Exhibition held in New York City in 1958, and is titled "The Bronze Serpent in:
(1) "Biblical Prints by Sadao Watanabe", by Sadao Watanabe and Masao Takenaka, Shinkyo Shuppansha, 1986, plate 3, and
(2) "Printing the Word: the art of Sadao Watanabe" by Anne H. Pyle, American Bible Society, 2000, plate 7.
This print is a colour stencil on hand-crumpled "Momigami" paper. Artist signature, date, and edition number at lower right.

Condition: patchy remnants of previous mount along the very edges of the verso of the print, which do not affect the front.
