ARTIST: Furuya Taiken.

FORMAT: Oban, Yoko-e (14" x 10").

NOTE:

The artist produced only four designs with Watanabe, all of them pre-earthquake and consequently rare. Illustrated in Hotei's The New Wave, plate 273.

DATE: 1922.

DESCRIPTION:

Echigo-jishi performers (wandering minstrels).

PUBLISHER: Watanabe.

CONDITION:

Some uneven trimming to margins, otherwise fine impression, colour and condition.

Artist Bio: 
Taiken Furuya was a renowned Japanese traditional artist. He produced only 4 Shin Hanga style designs by the request from Shozaburo Watanabe in 1921 - 22.
