This is an excellent watercolour on card of a JAPANESE STREET SCENE. In the painting you can see a large tree along with rows of flowering blossom trees. It is a rainy day ,in the foreground is a gentleman pulling a Rickshaw with other figures holding umbrellas nearby. At the side of the road are wooden buildings with the mountains beyond. The painting is signed in the lower left corner "Y. MATSUMOTO" who was an early 20th cen. Japanese artist of landscapes and harbour scenes. The painting which dates from around 1930 is in a black ebonised type frame measuring 24" x 18". The frame does have some damage. |
