Highly Important Early Large Head Artist: Toyokuni I Format: Oban tate-e grey ground: 14.5" x 10" approx
Subject: One of Toyokuni's finest 'Large Head' designs the beautiful young actor Matsumoto Yonesaburo as Tsukisayo, wearing a kimono decorated with Battledore bat and flight, in the Joruri play, Hinanomiya mutsuki no Mitsubiki performed at the Kiri za theatre in 1797.
Extremely rare and very elegant design from Toyokuni's finest period.
Provenance:Circular collector's red seal of the Hayashi Tadamasa Collection.
