Your web site has been so helpful to me. It is terrific that you have been
able to document so many prints. The articles have been of great interest,
and the links started me out on a great journey . I, too, have also
developed an interest in Japanese watercolors of the early 1920-40's. I
stumbled over this Matsumoto water color on eBay in September, and have been
looking for more since! (I hope this is file small enough for you to get,
the original was over 35MB) This picture doesn't do it justice, although
taken with my Canon D20, it was done standing over the watercolor (which was
on the floor on a sheet of white mat board), and under fluorescent lighting
which gives it a green cast and bad parallax (It is more yellow/pink).
Unfortunately the previous owner had it framed by a gallery which used
(UGH!) plastic tape to hold it to the mat, which left the ~3/8 acid mark
around the edge of the print. I have since had it archivally framed, and
have it in a place where it does not get any UV, so hope to preserve it
better than was being done previously. It is really a beautiful serene
picture! I feel like I've become an addict! Too bad we all don't have more
money for this indulgence!! |
