The following information was taken from the original web listing of this artwork. Note that there may be some inaccuracies:

VINTAGE S H MATSUMOTO WATERCOLOR MT FUJI or MT FUJIYAMA
WATERCOLOR PAINTING, SCENE OF MT FUJI IN THE BACKGROUND WITH A MAN CARRYING FISHING POLES WALKING ON A BEACH TOWARDS FISHING BOATS, PROBABLY DONE ON RICE PAPER, FRAMED. (please be sure to look at our other on-going auctions). Estate fresh find, 1st time offered & new to the marketplace. Super piece in about as nice as you can expect to find in original as-found condition. Great colors, theme & scene. Let me tell you a little about what I've been able to find out. SH Matsumoto is a listed Japanese artist. I believe this was done right around 1920, it is my understanding that someone in the family traveled to Japan around that time, this info comes from a family member. Couple things I'm not exactly sure of, 1 is the date, site mentions that he worked about that time, 2nd is the title, on the back is penciled "Mt Fuji or Mt Fujiyama", any final call on these is up to you, I do know it's definately older & original. The what you can see size of the painting is 9 5/8" wide x 6 3/8" tall, add a little extra for whats hidden behind the frame border.

Artist Bio:
Active in the early 1900's. I've seen examples of his paintings dated 1905, 1906, and 1907. Often signs as "S. H. Matsumoto".
