Title Filtering Light at Lakeside limited edition Artist Waichi Hayashi born 1951 Signature Signed, titled and numbered by the artist in pencil. Seal Artist's red seal. Dated 2001 Medium/Technique Woodblock print Impression printed by the artist Colors excellent … gold mica Condition excellent - very good … two horizontal creases on the right margin. Edition Size 80 Numbered 41 / 80 Description "Kohan no Morebi" (The Filtering Light at the Lakeside). This design has all elements of the mastership features that Waichi Hayashi uses to fascinate the viewers' eye. It is the play with light and the composition of colors. The effects of light were first discovered by the French impressionists. The Japanese shin hanga artists like Hasui Kawase masterly integrated the light-shadow effects into their woodblock prints. The use of light by Waichi Hayashi is different. He "plays" with spotlight effects as they sometimes can be seen at the end of strong showers/thunderstorms in mountain areas.
