Abuna-e: The Smoker

Artist: Harunobu
Format: Chuban yoko-e: 6.75" x 9.75"

Subject: A delightful and intimate bedroom scene, with a young courtesan holding her sleeping client's nose, to avoid waking him with the smell of her tobacco smoke.

Publisher: Privately produced

Date: 1760's

Condition: Trimmed on left and right margins, with added replacements. Clean, unobtrusive vertical album fold. Minor marks and flaws. Generally very good state.

Colour: Superb fresh colors with some oxidation in background.

Impression: Very fine with gauffrage
