Pillar Print: Two Courtesans

Artist: Kiyonaga
Format: Hashira-e (Pillar Print): 24" x 4,25" approx

Subject: Two courtesans on a balcony overlooking the river. A shamisen on the floor before them.

Date: 1782

Condition: Very slightly trimmed on left. Laid down on Japanese backing paper. Paper toned. Minor damages, marks and flaws. Generally moderate state.

Colour: Good with slight fading

Impression: Very good. This impression lacks the Pawlonia crest on the paper lantern.

Other Notes: Subject illustrated in Pins, #655, p250 and Hirano.
