Triptych:Fireworks over the Ryogoku Bridge

Artist: Kunisada
Format: Oban triptych: each sheet 14.25" x 10" approx

Subject: Bijin strolling on the banks of the Sumida River in the cool of the early evening, mingling with townsfolk and a host of travellers thronging the Ryogoku Bridge where a festival firework is exploding in the sky. Three festival barges and numerous small pleasure craft anchoring on the river. A delightful insight into the Edo 'Floating World' culture.

Publisher: Ebisuya Shoshichi

Date: 1840's

Condition: Very slightly trimmed. Retaining Japanese album backing paper. Each sheet with an album foldmark at left margin with small paper losses at top and base. Centre sheet a little rubbed in left margin at center. Generally good, fresh state.

Colour: Very fine fresh matching colors on each sheet.

Impression: Fine with gauffrage. As is usual with this publisher, printed with elaborate care.
