The following information was taken from the original web listing of this artwork. Note that there may be some inaccuracies:

Rare set of 16 wood block prints by Sanzo Wada

The print is titled "Makio-San"...and depicts a Maiko in elaborate Kimono, making Japanese tea, or Macha. Published by Kyoto Hanga-In as "The Steps in Wood Block Printing"Accordion folded album 17.5 x 23.5 cm, believed to have been published in 1930.

16 progressive printings of the print, beginning with the black-outline key block. The book opens right-to-left, Japanese style, with the color block shown on the right, and its impression over the key & progressive printings on the left. Easily understood and seen as each successive block is printed in a different color and place adds to the print. The last print is the completed product.

Album shows minor soiling from handling and storage over the decades...but no writing, tears or damage.....it is indeed a very nice copy....incredible find and opportunity for the collector of Shinagawa Wood Block Prints.....
