Offered is Yoshitaka Nakao's "The Night Fortune Teller". Born in 1911, Nakao was briefly a student of the Sosaku Hanga master, Umetaro Azechi. In pencil at the bottom, the print is signed "Y Nakao", dated 1958, and numbered 10/100.

Rarely available print, museum level artist.
Margin to margin, the "The Night Fortune Teller" is 8.25" x 12". The image is 6.75" by 10.25". The white area of the collar has been hand-painted onto the print, as has the white of the eye. The margins are toned, just about the color you see in the print. On the back across the top, there is a narrow tape mark, and some tape. There is light bleed-through. Nakao is rare, and does not often come up for sale, and this is a LIMITED edition print. |
