Ukiyoye Comparison of the Cloudy Chapters of Genji: # 49 Artist: Kuniyoshi Format: Oban tate-e: 14.5" x 9.75"
Subject: Yadorigi. Kwanshojo (Sugawara no Michizane) with a fan, turning away from Kariya-hime, who crouches behind him. This is probably Onoye Kikugoro III and Iwai Kumesaburo in Sugawara at the Nakamura theatre in the early summer of 1844.

Date: c. 1845-46
Condition: Fine colors. Trimmed in margins. Album binding holes along right margin. An edge damage top right. A light waterstain at centre. Minor creases, soils, marks and flaws. Generally very good state of preservation.
Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage
