The Sumo Wrestler Abumatsu, by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1864)
Completely filling the picture plane, this wrestler is bursting with power. The white rope belt at his waist might indicate that he was a top ranked wrestler or yokozuna. We can imagine that AbumatsuÕs muscular arms were filled with an almost supernatural strength.
