The artworks displayed on JAODB are not for sale

Notes (1st edition)Extremely rare postcard series, first published around late 1930's to early 1940's. I have no information regarding the title of each scene, the format (postcard or koban), publisher, etc., but I can clearly see the artist name and the series title written on the series folder. The series was issued by the famous department store Mitsukoshi (??), as the name text and seal along the bottom of the series folder cover look very similar to Mitsukoshi's. I've included an image of Mitsukoshi's seal for comparison. Hasui made a trip to Korea in 1939, so these scenes most likely date to shortly after that time. One of the scenes has recently (2018) been re-published by a US-based art dealer, so it may become commonly available as a later edition reprint of the pre-war first edition.

These notes were written by the original owner/seller/auctioner of the item and may be inaccurate.:
The full series of prints as first published by Mitsukoshi Department Store, circa 1939 to early 1940s. Strictly speaking, Mitsukoshi would have been the distributor and probably commissioner of this series, not the publisher. The actual publisher is currently unknown.
