Girl with sunflower. An original Japanese woodblock print by Tadashi Nakayama. It measures 15" x 24" (framed 34" x 25"). The print is in very good condition. It's signed, 1957 T. Nakayama. The frame is silver leafed and has non-glare glass. Tadashi Nakayama is considered one of the modern masters of color woodblock printing. His printing techniques are laborious and difficult. Some works require up to 18 blocks, 40 or more colors and over 50 printing stages. His major themes are girls, horses and butterflies. Nakayama's work can be found in museums around the world.

This is a genuine original sosaku hanga Japanese woodblock print by Tadashi Nakayama (Born 1927). The print is pencil signed by the artist and dated 1957. There is extensive use of metallic pigment in the image.
The print is in very good condition. Strong impression, excellent color, good registration and bleedthrough. No foxing, toning, folds or creases. The print is not trimmed or setdown. There is a very faint matline approximately 1/2" away from the margin, which does not affect the image. The print has not been cleaned or washed. The photos show the paper much whiter than the actual shade, which is a mellow off-white shade. Print size is 19.5" x 27.5".

Nakayama Sunflower Girl Woodblock Print 1st Edition

This auction is for a Japanese Woodblock print by Tadashi Nakayama called "The Sunflower Girl". This print has been signed and dated 1957 and is numbered 7 of 250. This particular piece of work is the first edition. It measures 27 inches long by 19 inches wide.

Condition: Overall excellent condition. Image is perfect with a very fine impression, outstanding color and absolutely no tears, fading or defects. When the woodblock was originally framed it was placed against a slightly larger paper backing which remains (see photos). There are two 1" pieces of mounting tape on the back of the paper backing (along the upper and right edges).
