Impression Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading; nicely visible "woodgrain" in center upper sky; very finely carved details, crisp key-lines.
Condition Excellent. Strong colors; clean backside. (No flaws noted.)

Comments Attractive red temple print. Bottom margin reads "Nouet saku," or "Made by Nouet." It is believed that the extremely fine lines seen in the "key-blocks" of Noute's prints may have, in fact, been produced using zinc plates. (Learn more.)

Asakusa Temple by Noel Nouet. Genuine woodblock print dated 1936. Later impression from original blocks. Oban size measures 15.8 x 10.5 inches. Yamaguchi supervisor's seal, Doi publisher's seal, Endo carver's seal and Seki printer's seal in left margin. Title in right margin. Nuetto Saku and hanmoto Doi in bottom margin. Very nice craftsmanship. Good detail and ink bleed thorugh.
