Description: "Umewaka Jinja" (Umewaka Shrine). A rickshaw is parked next to the torii of Umewaka shrine. It is raining heavily. A woman with an umbrella is walking toward the rickshaw carrier.
The entire image of the print had been varnished to create the impression of European oil painting, a device which was popular in Japan at the end of the 19th century.
Signature: "Kobayashi Kiyochika" on the lower left.
Dated: 1877.
