Artist: Yamanaka Kodo
Format: Kuchi-e( approx: 29,5cmx22cm),
Conditions: Fine colors and impression .Backed. Light toning and slight soiling, as is common in these Kuchi-e pieces. The print is folded vertically (now flattened) as are all kuchi-e prints (because of their use), so this is not a negative. The print is exactly as the pictures. So please, look attentively the picture. Thank you.
Subject:
The work is a Kuchi-e print by Yamanaka Kodo. He was an important woodblock printmaker of the Meiji Period. His kuchi-e prins is very rare. We can feel the influence of the tradition in the print. Kuchi-e are woodblock-printed frontispiece illustrations produced for publication in Japanese novels and literary magazines at the turn-of-the-century (1895-1912). This print represents a beauty holding a fan.
