Vintage 1930's Japanese Framed Wood Block Print. A duck or a goose flying over the water with the sun in the background. Black and white, signed. Artist Hodo. This piece is missing the glass. It broke years ago but can easily be replaced at any frame shop. There is a small scratch on the wing and a small dot like scratch in the waves of the water. The framed piece measures 12" x 21". The image measures 6 1/2" x 14 3/4". The print can easily be removed and reframed if desired, it is attached to a backing paper only at the top.

nishamura hodo woodblock print ,1930s, listed artist
unbacked, unframed signed with artists signature and publisher seals
very good condition, 15.25 x 7 in.. full margins,clean , no foxing


Nishimura Hodo was active as designer of kacho-e prints in Shin Hanga style in the 1930s. Most prints by Hodo were published by the Yokahama publisher Takemura Hideo who was active between 1926 through 1939. not sure if this is the same publisher
