Notes (1st edition)Notes about the 1934 edition published by Osaka Mainichi Newspaper: This is a genuine pre-war variant of Hasui's masterpiece "Zojoji Temple", printed as a first and only edition in 1934. It was included as a magazine supplement, so definitely only a single edition, and due to its extreme rarity the edition was quite small. Its size is about 10% smaller than the original 1925 edition by Watanabe (image area is 21.2 x 32cm). It was originally tip mounted to the magazine's black backing and contains a tissue coversheet with an English explanation. This edition is far rarer than Watanabe's original 1925 strike (which was printed in several editions of up to 3,000 copies). A note from the publisher Watabane Shoichiro: The image you sent me is a reproduction of Hasui print. Maybe in 1935, I heard that Osaka Mainichi Shinbun Company made it in a litte smaller size. I am sorry I don't know much about this. Sincerely, Shoichiro Watanabe
