[Go Back]  [New Search]    Comparing Artwork Details for Takagi Shiro (b1934) "Fish and Lemons - Sanma to Lemon"

The artworks displayed on JAODB are not for sale

Notes (1st edition)This is originally Shima Tamami's works. I'm not sure why but Takagi Shiro reproduced quite a few Shima prints, perhaps after Shima moved to America. It's quite disappointing to see such scenes without attribution to Tamami. It does appear that Takagi carved new blocks for some of the examples of this scene though, as the background woodgrain is clearly different.

Thanks to Chas for this example. The background woodgrain pattern is completely different to his other examples (recarved?). The background woodgrain pattern is the same as Tamami Shima's scene, so clearly Takagi obtained Tamami's blocks.
