Bridge across a moat
Paper size: 92.5 x 56 cm. Published by Kyoto Hanga-in ca. 1946-48. Signed in yellow ink, plus artist's seal.
This type of giant woodblock print (some 4 to 6 designs are known) were meant as showpieces for the publisher, and were exhibited in a few large department stores, like Mitsukoshi and Matsuzakaya. Only a few were printed, enough for the shopwindows, and they were framed by the publisher for that purpose.

Euro 975

Fine impression, very good colours, fairly good to good condition: This print was framed before the time of archival framing and that shows: there is a matline, and there are also insect marks (see "detail"). On the other hand this very large print is very, very rare, and you are unlikely ever to see another copy!
