Subject:
The work is a Kuchi-e print by Kiyokata. He was an important woodblock printmaker of the Meiji Period. His kuchi-e prins is very rare. He was the disciple of Yoshitoshi and Toshikata. We can feel the influence of the tradition in the print. Kuchi-e are woodblock-printed frontispiece illustrations produced for publication in Japanese novels and literary magazines at the turn-of-the-century (1895-1912). This print represents a beauty holding furoshiki.

We certify that the print is an original Japanese woodblock print by Kiyokata.
