Notes: First state example, with the S. Watanabe "B" seal; l.r. Strong colors throughout, with a rich pink and blind stamped embossing in the clouds.

The Kiso River flows through the Kiso mountain range from Nagano to Gifu Prefectures and through Mie Prefecture before emptying into Ise Bay.
KAWASE HASUI Japanese Woodblock Print - Horai Rock, Kiso River

This was done by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), a specialist in landscapes in the shin hanga group of print makers. Published by Watanabe Shozaburo. Signed in Japanese within the print. Title is Horai Rock, Kiso River. Comes with original paper & cardboard mat. Paper is a light cream color, any yellow is just my lighting or camera. No foxing, some minor overall toning. Measures 10-1/4" by 15-1/4". See our other auctions for other prints. Condition: no damage or problems to print.
