Condition good … paper toned, slight wrinkles, a tear (ca. 2 inch long) from the bottom edge repaired.
Description "Secchuu Bijin" (Beauty in the Snow). Lithograph enjoyed great popularity during Meiji era because of its ease for mass-production and strange realism it conveyed. It started to be widely used around 1880 with hand colored publications and quickly developed into multi-colored commercial applications replacing woodblock printing.
