Subject: An actor and lighting technician in the wings during a dance performance.
Muto Kaitei studied painting with Yamakawa Shuho (1898-1944) and print making with Kawase Hasui (1883-1957). He exhibited nihon-ga at Nitten. He began making prints with the publisher, Watanabe Shozaburo in 1954.

Other than his birth year of 1910, little is known of the artist Muto Katei who designed this rarely seen print depicting a dance contest as seen from stage right. |
