Notes (this edition) These notes were written by the original owner/seller/auctioner of the item and may be inaccurate.: | Saturday, 9 April 2011 I am not an expert in this type of art, so I can not say for sure if this is a block print. The print was found in a World War II veteran's footlocker. The print is of high quality, the lines that can be seen in the scan, is rain. The print is in good condition with the color still vivid and no tears or folds. The print measures 11 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" high. The print is not backed or in a mat. |
Saturday, 20 January 2007 The Ferry Boat Artist: Kiyochika Format: Large oban yoko-e: 10.75" x 15.75" approx Subject: A rickshaw being ferried under heavy rain. The blocks for this series were in preparation when Kiyochika died in 1915 and were first issued shortly thereafter. The set appears to comprise some 26 designs and is exceptionally rare. Each print bears the publisher's stamp verso together with the notation Kiyochika Fukei Shin-ga Hampu kai, I.e. of a limited edition.
