You are bidding on an EXTRA LARGE very beautiful and rare original Japanese woodblock print “Mountain View” signed by the famous Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print master Asano Takeji (1900-1999) made in Showa 17, which is 1942. The print size is 14 3/4 x 20 1/4 inches, which is much larger than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. The artist’s signature is at the lower right corner of the print. There are also the artist’s signature and his chop mark in the lower right border and the date “Showa 17 (1942)” of the print was made in the lower left border. All four borders are intact. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the woodblock print. Except for some minor foxing at the outer edge of the top border due to the print’s age, which does not affect the images, and some light and tiny foxing dots, mostly in the sky on the left side, this woodblock print is in excellent condition. |
