This is a really beautiful original woodblock print by noted shin hanga printmaker Ito Shinsui. Shortly before his death in 1972, Shinsui contracted with a publishing company to have several of his paintings made into woodblock prints; this is one example of that collaboration, in my opinion the star of the group. The design is elaborate, and masterfully printed, with gold metallic highlights in the kimono, beautiful embossing in the collar, and go-fun (white pigment) hand-added for the snowflake effect. It is quite a large print, about 15.5 x 16.5" plus full margins, as issued. Exceptionally nice condition, never framed or mounted in any way; just an exceptional print in every respect.
