Very nice woodblock print by Kasamatsu, depicting a fesitval in which drummers are following a huge lantern with an umbrella from which hanging chains of paper flowers? Are suspended. Nice color, deep blue sky, signed l/r in pencil, Shiro Kasamatsu. Paper measures 9-1/2" x 15", image only, 8-1/4" x 14" or so. Not laid down, excellent condition, one brown dot to top margin, two small pieces of what looks like conservator's tape on back upper corners so it is adhered to backing paper at those points. Date unknown. |

Skillful soft "bokashi" shading throughout; visible "woodgrain" (sky and left); crisp "key-lines." Condition Excellent. No flaws noted. Clean backside (pencil notation verso margin).
