The Black Collar

Format: Large Oban tate-e: 15.75" x 10.75"

Subject: A young woman admiring her reflection in a mirror. One of Shinsui's earliest and most subtle bijin designs. Shinsui's personal seal on bottom margin. Red limitation seal from the 1st edition of 200 edition on verso.

Publisher: Watanabe

Date: 1928

Condition: Full size. Slight thinning on verso at corners from a previous matting. Minor marks and flaws. Generally excellent state of preservation.

Colour: Fine colors

Impression: Fine 1st edition with extensive blind printing and white mica on the mirror.
