This is an absolutely stunning original woodblock print by noted shin hanga printmaker Ito Shinsui. It is one of a small series of prints based on his paintings and produced by Momose publisher; Shinsui contracted for these prints shortly before his death. It is quite large, about 18 x 15 plus full margins. Really nice condition, unframed, but matted in a beautiful gold-lined archival mat. If you prefer, I will remove the mat for shipping, but it is very nice, and well worth keeping with the print. Superb color and impression.

You are bidding on an EXTRA LARGE very beautiful and special original Japanese woodblock print “After Bath” signed by the famous Taisho/Showa woodblock print master Shinsui Ito (1898-1974) IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the lower left corner of the print. The size of the print is about 191 3/4 x 16 1/4 inches, which is much larger than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the print. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese Mulberry paper. The publisher’s chop mark, the carver and printer’s chop marks are in the lower left border. As far as I can tell there are no defects, foxing, or stains, this woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
