This festive procession of a noble family and its 'court' consists - with one exception - of female participants only, even the palanquin bearers are women. The group is beautifully set against the impressive Mt. Fuji and its foothills in the background. This design probably is a 'mitate' (often facetious depictions featuring pastiche, allusion or parody) of a daimyo's procession.
