Description From the series, "Gendai Butai Geika" (Figures of the Modern Stage in Their Most Famous Roles). No. 4. Famed actress Mizutani Yaeko is in the role of Madam Butterfly.
Ota's actor portraits are some interesting mixture of the 3-dimensional shadings and the large flat areas of Japanese traditional kabuki prints. The characteristics of individual actors were also presented in the finely detailed depictions of faces and hands.
Note The print comes with the original presentation folder and an explanation sheet in Japanese.

Subject: From series Gendai Butai Geika, #1, Unusual in the set since this is the representation of a real female actress (name unknown) rather than an impersonating male. Complete with its original folder as issued, with numbering 3 from the limited edition.

Date: 1954

Condition: Full size. Minor toning and foxing of paper. Minor marks and flaws. Generally good state.

Colour: Fine

Impression: Very fine with extensive gauffrage
