Gogatsu Samidare (May Showers) from the series Twelve months of new Ukiyoe Beauties by Nakayama Shuko. Original woodblock print circa 1924. Fine color, condition and impression. Washi toned on verso. Nice texture and ink bleedthrough. Series, title and artist's characters in right margin. Artist's signature and red seal in upper right of image. 17.2 x 11.1 inches. Compare to same print on page 99 of the book The Female Image 20th Century Prints of Japanese Beauties.

Colors excellent … shomen-zuri patterns on part of the hair, brass colored metallic pigment for the hair ornaments
Condition good … paper cracks around the hair ornaments and part of the background next to the ornament otherwise in excellent condition.
